How many Post Hole Covers will I need?

You’ll need one cover per cable pass-through location on each side of the post. For example, if you have 10 cables running through a post, you would need 20 covers—one for each side of each pass-through hole.

Can Post Hole Covers be used on metal posts?

Post Hole Covers are designed for use with wood and vinyl or composite sleeved systems—we do not recommend using them on metal posts. The threading on the Deluxe option is NOT the same threading as our metal tensioners, making them incompatible with our Signature Series Posts.

What is the difference between Post Hole Covers and a tensioner?

Deluxe Post Hole Covers perfectly resemble tensioners once installed but only allow cable to pass through—there is no tensioning technology inside of this decorative piece. Both standard and deluxe options are intended for aesthetics and protecting posts from wear.

Do Post Hole Covers work on stairs?

Both Post Hole Cover options are compatible with stairs; however, Deluxe Post Hole Covers are ideal as they offer extra protection for your posts where the cables may rub against wood. The installation process will be exactly the same on stairs as it is on level runs.

Can I add Post Hole Covers after I’ve finished my installation?

Post hole covers need to be installed before running your cables through the posts to ensure proper attachment. Please refer to your installation instructions to accurately assemble your components in the correct order.

How do Post Hole Covers attach to posts?

Regular Post Hole Covers attach using a single screw, while deluxe options thread into your post like a tensioner. Please Note: On vinyl or composite sleeved posts, a different hole size will need to be drilled for Deluxe Post Hole Cover installation. The standard 9/16” pilot holes used for tensioners will be too large.

How do I get Post Hole Cover holes equally spaced?

We offer a Drill Guide and Template for Level Runs to help space holes evenly, or you can manually measure and mark every 3 inches from the center of each post hole cover.

What is the difference between Deluxe and standard Post Hole Covers?

Standard post hole covers provide a simple stainless steel trim for aesthetics, whereas deluxe covers perfectly mimic the look of a tensioner once installed. Additionally, standard Post Hole Covers are attached to your post using a single screw, while Deluxe Post Hole Covers are threaded into posts, offering both an aesthetic enhancement and additional protection against post splintering. Both options replicate the look of a tensioner, but their purposes are very different from a tensioner.
