No, Spacer Bars are not suitable for use with cables spaced 4” apart. The design will only allow for you to space your cables every 3”—the optimal cable spacing to pass building codes.

Fixed Spacer Bars add some additional cable support but are not a replacement for line (or pass-through) posts. A Fixed Spacer Bar provides enough cable support for roughly one extra foot of allowable spacing between posts—but it will not provide any additional support for your handrail.

Spacer Bars need to be installed at the same time cables are run. The cable pass-through channels within the Spacer Bar are not large enough to allow the crimped cable to pass through. For this reason, you must run all of your cable through the Spacer Bar before making your final cable crimp and tensioning your cables.

Yes, Floating and Fixed Spacer Bars can be installed on both level and sloped runs. The installation process and cable deflection support will be the same for each application.

Our Floating Spacer Bars come with (2) set screws—one for the top and bottom cable. If you advance these screws, the Spacer Bars will remain in place and won’t shift unless the screws are loosened, allowing you to place your Spacer Bar where you want, and lock it in place.

Spacer Bars are typically spaced every 4 feet between supporting posts. E.g., post, 4 feet, Spacer Bar, 4 feet, and another post. Spacer Bars only support the cables, and for cable railing projects you need both cable and handrail support.
