Post Hole Protector

We offer a Drill Guide and Template for Level Runs to help space holes evenly, or you can manually measure and mark every 3 inches from the center of each post hole protector.

Because of their 90º flange construction, Post Hole Protectors are not compatible with angled cable runs. For stair runs, we recommend Deluxe Post Hole Covers as they offer protection for your posts and while also allowing the cable to pass through at an angle.

Functionally, both Deluxe Post Hole Covers and Post Hole Protectors offer protection for your pass-through posts from cable abrasion and wear. Deluxe Post Hole Covers can be used on both level and angled runs whereas Post Hole Protectors can only be used on level runs. Neither option provides cable tension or anchoring functionality.
Aesthetically, Post Hole Protectors provide a simple trimmed finish, whereas Deluxe Post Hole Covers perfectly mimic the look of a tensioner once installed.

Post Hole Protectors need to be installed before or while running your cables through the posts. It will be impossible to install Post Hole Protectors once the cable is run and crimped without replacing your cables entirely. Please refer to your installation instructions to accurately assemble your components in the correct order.

Because these are installed on pass-through posts (cable exiting each side), most customers prefer protectors on both sides for a polished, uniform look.

You’ll need one protector per cable pass-through location on each side of the post. For example, if you have 10 cables running through a post, you would need 20 protectors—one for each side of each pass-through hole.
